The people behind the work

Behind every piece of work we do is a team that cares deeply about getting human rights right – and about the real difference it makes to the people affected by global business.

We combine deep technical knowledge with experience, empathy and a hands-on approach – practitioners as well as consultants.

Louise HerringFounder and Principal Consultant

Louise founded Inherently Human in 2015, bringing over 20 years of experience in ethical trade, modern slavery, and human rights across all sectors. She has primarily worked with global retailers, brands, and food companies, supporting them to develop and implement human rights strategies and due diligence approaches. She has also designed and delivered training for clients including the Ethical Trading Initiative and Stronger Together.

Her passions are making human rights strategic yet practical, and convening stakeholders to work efficiently and break down silos.

Louise established and ran the Food Network for Ethical Trade (FNET) on behalf of its 10 UK retailer and 50 supplier members from 2017 to 2022. She is currently Executive Director of AIM-Progress, a forum of 45 leading FMCG manufacturers and common suppliers working together to enable and promote responsible sourcing practices and human rights.
